Welcome to the Quiz Night instructions
Visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/group-chat-software Sign up for Teams (if you aren’t already)

Enter your Email address you’d like to use, if you have a Microsoft account already that you use for email (Hotmail, Outlook.com etc)
Don’t worry if this doesn’t appear, it just means you are already signed in with your Microsoft Account

During the sign-up process, make sure to choose that you are using Team “for work”

Enter your own name (or your Business name if you have one) when you are prompted for a “Company Name”

Wait for things to set up…

Dowload the Teams App for your laptop

Save the download

Start the install

Once Teams is installed, enter your account name (your Hotmail or Outlook.com email address)

When Teams first starts it will ask you a few questions and if you want to share a link to your org, just click past all this.

Send us your email address for your account so we can add you to the Quiz!
Also let us know what you would like your team named for the quiz night.

Once we get this we will add you to the Quiz so you should get an invite email

Then accept the invite on the page that opens

If all has gone well, you will be able to open Teams and then click on your name at the top-right corner and join the “Hebs Web Design” org (where the Quiz is happening)

Once you switch you should see the “Quiz Night” with the “General” channel and a channel for your team

Only you and your other team members can see your private channel, but everyone can see the “General” channel.
Inside the your teams channel if you click on the “Files” tab and you can open your teams answer sheet

This is where you can enter your answers for the questions in each round, which we can see to tally up the results

Initially we will have a practice round so everyone can (hopefully) get the hang of things.
The general process will be that we will be all joined to the main “General” channel as a video call (this will pop up once we get things started so please join), which is where we will ask the questions.
You can talk in here and post messages, which will be visible to everyone in the quiz.
Once we start each round we will mute everyone so we are the only ones doing the talking to ask the questions, however if you want to ask a question feel free to unmute yourself…but just be sure to mute yourself again so any private conversations with your team (ie answers to questions) aren’t broadcast to everyone.

As you go fill in the answers in the answer sheet. There will be one minute provided for each question (unless noted otherwise), at which point your answer is final. Please don’t go back and change your answers later!
So you can switch between the answer sheet and Teams more easily, its best to open your teams answer sheet in Excel Online or Excel (if you have it), by clicking the “…” next to it and choosing “Open” -> “Open in…”

Once this is done, the scribe (whoever is entering answers) can switch between Teams and the answer sheet.
The answer sheet is “live” so your team mates (and us) can see changes as they are made, and more than one person can make changes so you can use this as a way to “chat” to members of your team that aren’t in your household.
You can also use your teams channel (ie your teams name) to chat amongst yourselves.
An alternative is to use something like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, FaceTime or a good old fashioned phone call on your mobile to keep in contact with your team mates, while still staying conencted to the Quiz via Teams.
